Rapunzl Opens Its Classroom Financial Literacy Platform to Parents, With a Full Curriculum, Live Stock Market Simulator and Economics Games

Families can now give their kids the same curriculum, real-time stock market simulator and economics games that more than 150,000 students have used in school since 2018.

CHICAGO · October 23, 2026

CHICAGO, Oct. 23, 2026 — Rapunzl, the financial literacy platform used in classrooms across the country, today opened its full program to parents. For the first time, families can give their child the same 200+ hours of curriculum, real-time stock market simulator and economics games that more than 150,000 students have used in school since 2018, with a parent dashboard to follow along at home.

Rapunzl for parents is built for families who want their kids to understand money but aren't sure where to start, or who don't consider themselves investing experts. The program runs itself: students move through a sequence of courses that get harder as they go, the platform scores every quiz and assessment automatically, and parents watch the results from their own account. A parent never has to teach a lesson.

"Parents keep asking us how their kids can get what students in Rapunzl classrooms get," said Myles Gage, CEO and co-founder of Rapunzl. "We built this to be the best way for a family to teach money at home: real markets, a real curriculum, and games kids actually want to play, without a parent having to be the expert."

The classroom program, now at home

The family version is not a lighter edition. Students get the same simulator, the same curriculum, the same assessments and the same certifications they would earn in a Rapunzl classroom. The only difference is the teacher-facing tools schools license to run Rapunzl as a class, which a family doesn't need.

  • A $10,000 portfolio with real prices and no real risk. Every student starts with $10,000 in simulated cash and trades real stocks, ETFs and crypto at real-time prices from Nasdaq and Coinbase. The market moves are real; the money is not.
  • 200+ hours of curriculum. Lessons, 40 assessments and hundreds of activities in English or Spanish, covering the core areas of personal finance: earning income, spending, saving, investing, managing credit and managing risk.
  • Two economics games. In Run The Fed, students take the Federal Reserve chair's seat and set interest rates. In Rate the Loan, they start as a loan officer and work their way up to running a bank's lending business.
  • An AI tutor on call. When a student gets stuck, an AI tutor trained on Rapunzl's full curriculum gives an answer on the spot.
  • A credential to show for it. Students who complete a course earn a Rapunzl certification they can add to a LinkedIn profile or a college application, verified and accredited by financial institutions that support Rapunzl programming in schools.

Tools that go past the basics

Rapunzl goes well beyond buy and sell. Students can line up three companies head to head, study income statements, balance sheets and cash-flow statements built from SEC filings for more than 2,000 companies, and weigh analyst ratings against bullish and bearish views of a stock. They practice stop and limit orders on fractional shares, the same order types real investors use to manage risk. A library of financial calculators sits alongside the simulator, and the whole platform runs on the web and on mobile.

Proven in classrooms

Rapunzl has administered a national financial capability assessment in more than 100 classrooms: students start the program averaging 34% and finish averaging 93%, 26 points above the 67% national average for adults.

Students from more than 1,000 schools have taken part in Rapunzl's free national scholarship competition, and the company has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships. Rapunzl is an approved Chicago Public Schools vendor, and its founders were named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 2024 Education list.

Safe by design

Every account is simulated from end to end. No bank account, card or brokerage login is ever connected, so there is nothing real for a child to lose.

Rapunzl was built for schools, where student privacy is a legal obligation, and the family product carries the same rules. It is designed around the FERPA and COPPA standards classrooms require, accounts are encrypted in transit and at rest, and student data is never sold, rented or handed to advertisers. There are no third-party ad networks inside the app.

Plans and availability

Rapunzl for parents is available now at rapunzl.com/parents, on a monthly plan or a one-time Founding Family plan. Both plans include the parent dashboard and come with a 30-day money-back guarantee: a full refund within 30 days of purchase, for any reason. Families with more than one child add each child to the same account, and every child gets their own portfolio, curriculum progress and certifications.

Questions parents ask

What is Rapunzl for parents?

It is the same financial literacy program schools use, offered directly to families: a curriculum, a real-time stock market simulator, economics games and a parent dashboard.

What age is it for?

Rapunzl is built for students in grades 6 through 12, roughly ages 11 to 18.

Do I need to know about investing?

No. Rapunzl is self-directed. Students are enrolled in courses that build in difficulty, the platform grades their work, and an AI tutor answers their questions along the way.

Does my child use real money?

No. Students trade live-priced stocks, ETFs and crypto with virtual cash. Nothing real is ever at risk.

How do I see my child's progress?

Every plan includes a parent account showing progress, assessment scores and the student's portfolio.

Can I add more than one child?

Yes. Additional children are added to the same account, and each one gets a separate portfolio, curriculum progress and certifications.
