What Florida requires
The Dorothy L. Hukill Financial Literacy Act (SB 1054) requires a half credit of personal financial literacy within the 24 credits Florida students need for a standard diploma. It applies to students who entered 9th grade in 2023-24 and after — the class of 2027 onward — and is already being fulfilled by current 9th–12th graders.
The content is codified as the SS.912.FL benchmarks in Florida's B.E.S.T. Social Studies Standards, delivered through CPALMS course #2102371 (Personal Finance and Money Management).

One-half (0.5) credit standalone personal financial literacy & money management course.
Florida's requirement is a standalone course requirement.
In practice that means a dedicated class of its own, taken for credit, rather than a few personal finance lessons folded into another subject.
The Class of 2027 is the first graduating class that has to meet it, so earlier classes are not held to the requirement.
Timeline: Applies to students entering grade 9 in 2023-24 and thereafter.
If you are planning a course now, that timeline is the window to have curriculum in place before Florida starts holding students to it.
